Factory Errors

Factory errors are not that uncommon. I worked for a Plymouth in the early 70's as a new car prep man. I checked the cars in right off the trailers. I have seen many weird things. Personally I don't get all the hype about this type of stuff. Just because a car doesn't meet the so called text book look doesn't mean it is incorrect. So what if the car had the R/T badges on it from the factory ?? Just because the majority didn't doesn't mean this didn't. We had to sent some brand new cars out for complete re paints because of damage done from transporting or leakage from the cars above. So now you have an owner buy the car brand new out of the showroom and 40 years later some expert say's it was repainted and you tell they are crazy because you bought it new and never had it painted. Who is right ?

I do remember seeing in the mid 70,s a Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare  a brand new car, the front fenders said Volare, and on the deck lid it said Aspen

I tend to agree.  My 70 Cuda had the 383 emblem and hockey stripe on one side, the other side had 340 emblem and hockey strip.  Made for some interesting races on Telegraph Road.  I was the 2nd owner, and purchased the car back in 75, the original owner said it came the way from the factory.  I had no reason to doubt him.  I also worked at Dodge Main back when they were making the Aspens and Volares there.  The emblems would be the easiest thing to screw up,  because one person did one side of the car and a different person was on the other side of the assembly line.  Factor in replacement guys / gals and relief workers for breaks, I sure it happened more then a couple of times.  Besides, you never look at both sides of the car at the same time.  Unless you have a really big mirror!

Saw lots of the first minivans coming through with caravan badge and grille in front with Plymouth voyager nameplates and tailights and vice versa. Had a new ram last year have aluminum wheels on one sided and steel on the other. Mistakes still happen.
