POR 15
« on: July 04, 2014 - 10:35:03 PM »
Anyone have good results using POR 15 or any other rust treatment coating.  Eastwood also have have rust treatment coatings. Need to treat inside of frame rails, rockers, trunk seams and a few localized spots in the trunk.

I used it on the underside of my car. Seems to work fine. Doesn't really get put to the test seeing as I don't take my car out of the garage when it's raining. ::)
I wouldn't use it on any outer body surface, it's difficult to get paint to stick to it.

I've used it on a few cars. It seems to be o.k. A friend of mine and his son did the inside of his Challenger doors with POR15. His son got some on his hands then touched his face! The next day was his graduation picture day. POR15 takes many days to come off of your face! His Mom ended up having to put make-up on his face!!

I didn't have much luck with POR-15 but then I was trying to use it to protect bare clean metal.   Perhaps if you are truly painting over rust it works better.

I did like Rust Bullet though.

You pretty much need bare metal, and you pretty much have to use their prep spray to get it to stick. If you don't, it comes off in sheets. I think I'd go with Rhino lining or something like that, if I had to do it again.
