    Stock carb choke with Edelbrock RPM heads

    I'm putting together a 340 small block top end that will have Edelbrock RPM heads and a stock six pack setup.  The six pack intake has provisions for a choke on the center carb.  I was wondering if I should use on intake manifold gasket that blocks off the heat crossover, but after looking at the RPM heads I notice that they don't have a heat crossover.  So don't have to worry about the gasket type;  but now I'm wondering if the stock choke spring is going to get enough heat to operate properly?
    I guess one option would be to run an electric choke, but I would like to use the stock setup if possible?

    thanks for the links.  These hit the nail right on the head!  I have a copy of the 6 pack tuning article somewhere, but had forgotten that it talked about tuning with and without intake crossover heat. 
    Concerning the discussion in the first link, I remember my 76 Plymouth Volare with 318 two barrel had an electric hookup to the choke thermostatic coil spring.  The service manual has some good pictures of this setup and short of the fitment issues, looks like it should work.  I'll probably run the stock choke six pack setup for a while and see how it works out.  Since I live in a moderate climate and don't use the car as a daily driver this may work out ok.

    Do a search on Moparts.com, someone did it there. Added a electric choke to a 6 pack.
