My hot tranny is well lubricated, must be the exhaust. I've always been aware that it gets warm down there, but I never had anything melt before.

I'm guessing you have headers? If they are not ceramic coated, that would explain it.

Correct on both counts, plus they are wrapped on top which certainly pushes more heat to the bottom.

I'm guessing you have headers? If they are not ceramic coated, that would explain it.
