Insulation behind Dash
«

Just ordered the dash pad and the rebuilt instrument panel should be showing up shortly. Will be painting the dash frame also.
Should I put in insulation before I install back into the car. Has anyone done this and is it necessary? When we pulled it out of the car I don't remember seeing any.
Thanks.

I would definalty add insulation , you can use factory stuff or use Dynomat type as well , anything to keep the extra heat & noise away from the firewall

It's much easier to install the insulation when the dash is OFF.

Original behind dash insulation is a piece of cheap blanket glued to the firewall; I just pulled mine off; actually it mostly fell off. Anything you put there will be better than that. The lower part of the firewall has a piece of cardboard with some fiberglass insulation glued to it.

Bought new in '71; I wanted the Challenger but they were $2850; too much $ so I got the 318, 3 speed on the floor, Twister Duster for $2100.

I used FatMat all the way from the bottom of the windshield to the floor on the firewall.

You want something. My firewall inside gets almost too hot to hold your hand on for very long. Going to use Dynomat this winter.
