want to install charge warning light and remove gauge help
« on: July 24, 2014 - 04:49:26 PM »
Team,

eventually I want to remove the Amp gauge from the system and simply set up a charge warning light like most modern cars have today. Do any of you sparkies have a wiring circuit/diagram that could be set up in a 73 Cuda along these lines please??? I will want to run the charge wire bypass from the Alternator to the battery as well.

I would have the ammeter converted to a voltmeter  :2cents:  ....but since you ask this link explains and should put you on the path if you must, your question is answered in the lower part of the page under Warning Lamp. Seems simple enough.

Thanks Bullitt
right now, the plan is to re gauge an existing non ralle dash to a Speedo tacho combo gauge, oil,  gas temp and volt gauge, using good qty gauges, tube line for oil and so on, but I'm just exploring idea's

I convert my Rallye cluster's amp meter to a voltmeter out of a later model Dodge van, but also have a plug in cigarette lighter voltage monitor. It displays voltage on a LCD display and also has yellow, green, red, LEDs to show charge condition. You can usually pick one up at an RV or boat store.

If you want just a display to custom mount into your non-rallye dash, you cam get just a voltmeter off of Ebay for less than $2 here:

Ebay also has the cig lighter voltmeters for less than $2 too:
