Mecum Harrisburg? Anyone been to their auction
« on: July 21, 2014 - 11:14:11 PM »
So I have always watched Barrett Jackson and mecum auctions on TV but this weekend I finally am going to check out mecum in person in harrisburg pa. Just wondering if anyone has been to any of their auctions and what to expect. I am getting a bidders number but I'm sure I can't afford anything lol. I just figured it will be like a giant car show/car coral

We have attended several Mecum Auctions over the past few years.  Generally have a good time looking at the cars.  Harrisburg is a new auction so  we will see how that goes. When they moved the Chicago auction they had some issues with parking. The less expensive cars run the first day or so and the prices go up from there.  They have variety of makes and prices.  By the end of the auction we are overloaded.  It is a giant toy store.  We vary our day.  Watch some cars run then go walk around and look at the parked cars.  They will have sheets with the cars listed run order so you can decide which cars to be seated  in the building for to watch the bidding.  Purchased a Challenger several years ago at Mecum and the transaction went smooth.

I live in Kissimmee and have been going to the January auction for years. Going on the first day or two there can be some good bargains, then usually the last two days the big boys are playing, gets very exciting on the expensive cars. Always a very good time. Have fun, let us know what you buy :ylsuper:

I find it funny that some travel to all the Mecum shows because some shows traditionally don't bring the money others do. So they buy the cars there and transport them to shows that bring more money.

Kinda wild but I guess it works for some folks.

:iagree:I watch them all on TV, I've noticed and been told the Kansas City auction is best for prices.
