Swap a 727 with a 46re
« on: July 21, 2014 - 09:45:19 PM »
I want to swap out my 727 in my 73 cuda for a 46re. 46rh are getting hard to come by. Most shops are wanting 1000-1500 bucks plus a core. I can get a re for under 500. My main question is what's out there to control the electronics. This will be bolting up to a 340 running around 400hp and 3.91 sure grip. I have searched the threads here for some time and seems like every one is taking the engine, trans, the wires and computers from newer vans. Somebody gotta make a a/m controller. Thanks for your time and use of the brain trust.

Do you have a link for the ebay listing?

ebay ad says it is a 4 x 4 overdrive unit.  You don't want that.  I would look for a whole trans in a junk vehicle and have it rebuilt.  I don't know of anyone who has tried to convert a 727 to an overdrive.
