Backspacing for 8.5 rim on back of E-body?

What would be the correct backspace for an 8.5 inch rim on the back of a stock suspension/brakes 73 Barracuda with an 8 3/4? 


Would this work?
fronts  15x7  - 3 5/16 backspace (3 1/2 center hub bore)
rear 15x8.5 - 4 7/8 backspace (3 1/2 center hub bore)

An 8" rim is recommended with a 4 1/2 backspace so you should be good. Your fronts will be fine. What size meats are you putting on the back?

What rims are these?  15x 8" is a common width.  8.5" is not a common size.  Make sure you are measuring bead seat to bead seat (check both sizes of your wheels) and you are not measuring from the flange of the rim.

I was planning on using 215/65/15 fronts that I have had from a previous project.  Rear tires, probably 255/60/15.  I am working on a "barn find" project and was planning to use aluminum slots but they are uni-lug. So I located some used centerline auto drags. It is a low budget, for fun project. Basically will look like it was parked in a barn in the late 70's, early 80's.

What wheel sizes are you running?

7x15 front, 8x15 rear. Both have 3 3/4 backspace. The rears are too close to the outside of the wheelwell but with a 4 1/2 (7/16) backspace you'll be good to
