Incorrect Fuel Line Clips from Inline Tube
« on: July 22, 2014 - 04:39:50 PM »
Hi, my name is Michael and I have a 74 Cuda I'm working on.  I'm putting a complete set of stainless steel fuel lines in from Inline Tube and the clip set I purchased, part# DEF309, does not match my original clips.  These are single clips and I need the double clips since the fuel and vapor lines run together.  I just called Inline Tube and purchased a few of part number# CLP153 - Double R style clips.  Has anyone had this issue when replacing fuel line clips?  Unfortunately, I couldn't get a refund since I purchased the fuel lines almost 5 years ago and I'm just putting them in now.  I also did the brake lines by the way.  It's going to be pretty sweet when it's done!

Welcome to the site. I, also, have a set of those lines and they're about 3 yrs old, so thanks for the heads-up. Post some pics of your line installations if you don't mind.

I also used the S.S. fuel and brake lines but, when I tore mine apart I kept and reused the old clips.  S.S. while costing a little more looks good and down the road, no rust issues.   :cooldancing:

You are correct.  The hardware kits everyone sells are not correct for 72-74.  I don't think the correct clamps are reproduced.  I could not find them a couple years ago when I was looking.  I found someone in Canada who had some nice original ones.  I cleaned them in acid and sent them out to be replated with the rest of my fasteners.  Here is what they look like.  They hold both the 5/16" main line and the 1/4" return.

Thanks for all the replies.  This is a great resource.  I bought this car when I was 19 and now I'm 33 getting back to work on it.  Runs great, but was in an accident before I bought it and has a lot of rust issues.  Anyway, I got the CLP153 clips from Inline tube and they look correct.  Haven't got around to bolting them in yet, but I'm confident they'll work.  I doubt Inline Tube will correct their catalog, but I do think their stuff is good quality.

My current issue is the replacement gas tank I bought from Rock Auto.  The vent tubes are making a rattling sound inside the tank.  I thought maybe it was normal, but my old tank isn't doing this.  If I stick my finger inside the opening for the sending unit, I can tap on one of the vent tubes and hear that it's definitely coming from the tubes running across the inside top of the tank.  Although they are not obviously loose, maybe the solder joint is bad.  I don't want any strange noises coming from my car, so I'll see what the deal is to exchange it for a new one.  It's a Spectra tank, so I'm expecting good quality.

Regarding pictures, my dream is to make a website for it, but one thing at a time.
