I hear what you are sayin but its a different scenario for some people once their father is gone.
I would love to have the car he enjoyed as part of his memory.

The car wouldn't be registered to my mom as she doesn't drive / looks doubtful it was my grandparents too.

He had the duster after the Cuda so it isn't a scenario of him "using" the duster to save on his insurance because he didn't have it yet...

I really appreciate all the responses! It's good to get other ideas / talk through these ideas too

Thanks
B

Time for an update on the quest...

Ministry people = helpful

Service Ontario people = clueless! ( I am sure there are a few good ones out there ) I spoke with a lady yesterday and told her I wanted to do a "plate history" on a specific plate ( they offer it for $12 as per the website ) She proceeded to ask me for my driver's licence and then asked if it was my plate. I told her "no" and she said that it has to be a plate registered to me.... I told her that wasn't the case and then all of a sudden she must have decided that it was ok because she just did it ( she didn't ask someone for assistance or anything - just switched her tune ) She ran the plate / took my $12 and proceeded to hand me a blank piece of paper as it came up with no history.... I questioned her about how that could be since I know ( from the ministry ) that the plate was attached to a vehicle my dad owned... she just looked at me like a deer in headlights and I left....

I am going to call the ministry tomorrow and ask some questions and see if the person will "dig" a bit for me like the last lady I spoke with did over the phone. She was super helpful and willing to try things to find the info....

Will keep ya posted :)

So the suspense is killing me...

I talked to a ministry associate and she gave me the number of a "special inquiry" division and she told me to fax off a letter with what I was looking for and any information I have as she says they have older records still on file archived. She told me that a person will be assigned to this when they receive the fax and that I should hear something back within the next few weeks!

I can only hope the news is good and the V.I.N is found.....then the real fun begins!

Update -- Well apparently that lady was mistaken because I received a letter from the Ministry today that basically said what I already knew - They have erased certain records and have no way of looking into them at this point :(

It's not looking good at this point to find the V.I.N sadly... I have a few more options I am going to pursue and see where they take me but if they turn up dead ends then I may have no choice but to give up....
