Painted the new repro grille
The de-masking produced quite an impressive pile of tape

I think it turned out OK.
First rubbed down the glossy surface with a fine scotch brite. Worked in circular motions to avoid scratches.
Then spray can plastic primer (Hagmans)
Then a coat of structure. Also spray can. Spray light coats from a distance. If it's put on too heavy the structure won't form.
Then gunned a water based silver metallic. Regular exterior paint.
Also gunned a solvent based 2 comp gloss clear.
The structure is clearly visible through the clear but the glossy clear makes bugs much easier to wash off.

Ya know the "Pile O Tape" would make a very impressive center piece for the dining room table. Wife would love it I bet.  :roflsmiley: :smilielol:
