1970-71 Challenger Parking/emergency brake assembly
« on: August 23, 2014 - 08:35:18 PM »
Hello,

I am in need of a Emergency brake assembly also know as the Parking Brake assembly. If any one has a spare laying around please PM. I have a early year 1971 Challenger built in. August 1970 so most parts fit from a 1970 challenger.

Thanks
Russ

Would a 74 challenger e brake work? I have a good one.

I need the ebrake pedal assembly only. All my cables were replaced about a year ago. I broke off the release lever while doing some work on the steering column. I placed my big foot on the brake release lever and it broke off SMH. Anyway if you have one Show me a picture and PM how much you are asking for it and we can arrange shipping.

Thanks

I believe 73-74 are different  from the earlier years.

Thanks

As soon as  I get a chance I see if 1970 and 1974 are different.  I have my 1970 convert still apart and a 1974 parts car.  Both e brakes were media blasted and powder coated.

70 are different than 71 in my experience. I don't know if there might be a date cutoff though. You have to make sure that the way the cable mounts is what you need.

Is there a part number stamped somewhere. If so where?

Underneath your car if your right e-brake wheel cable comes over to the drivers side that's a 70 setup. If the right e-brake wheel cable is short and only mounts to the right side framerail thats a 71 and up setup. Hope that makes sense. The intermediate cable on a 70 goes to the left side back of the car while the 71 intermediate cable makes a u shaped loop connecting the right and left sides at the back.
I don't know if there is a # stamped on the pedal setup or not, I have a 71 pedal in my storage container, If I have time tomorrow I'll grab it a get a few pictures and see if there's a #.
