I also just sent an email to Earls to see what they recommend for this application.  We will see what they say.  I seem to remember my TransGo shift kit making a lot of line pressure.

I don't think that is the same as cooler line pressure...I am going by Munroe's book..your interpretation may be different :)

Just heard back from a trans rebuilder that said cooler line pressure is indeed different than line pressure.  He said cooler pressure is probably 65psi max.  He uses compression fittings in that circuit all the time.

The Earl's sales guy responded back and said the tube nut/sleeve would be the safer option.  I guess it just depends on if you are comfortable with the compression fitting.  I've got some thinking to do.  A friend has a 37 degree flaring tool, so re-flaring the tube wouldn't be a big deal.(as long as an aluminum tube nut/sleeve can be used on a SS tube)

I have never seen cooler pressure to be claimed anywhere close to that but I am only going by books and internet lore...we know what the latter is worth.  :)

I have run 70 psi of fuel pressure at 27 psi of boost numerous times and never had a fuel leak using the steel feruled line couplers...couple of times I went higher by accident before I could lift.  I will look at the ebay units and see what kind of ferules they provide and how tightly they fit the old lines

Those Swagelok  fitting I mentioned are for high pressure hydraulic  stuff. Over kill for anything automotive but they are all stainless and work REALLY well!
