440 machanical 6 pack linkage
« on: August 31, 2014 - 08:55:18 PM »
any advice on where to buy a good linkage set or pictures of a set up installed would be great. i do have the origanal vacume carbs but was hopeing to leave the machanicals on for now
i have the linkage that came with car but was kinda mickey moused where it attaches to the center carb throtal arm. i belive what i have is an old direct conection set up from early 70's , single rod from front carb to rear carb with a link that has an eye loop that slides on front to rear rod . the pivot pin that ataches to center carb is where im missing something. just trying to get this right the first time.
 thanks

No pix unfortunately but mine has a similar system with a link from the center carb with a loop over the rod that connects to the 2 end carbs , mine has a slider with a set screw that can be adjusted so the link from the center carb allow the center carb to open 30 % or so before the end carbs start to open but still allows full opening of all the carbs at one time , So it would seem we both have the same system , the upper rod has a pivot / nut / part that fits the large upper loop on the arm & uses a cotter pin & washer to retain it I recall .
Not sure where to find that part but Brad could make one in a few minutes !!

yup same same set up but the hole in arm on center carb is to small for the pivot nut on linkage. makeing a new pivot nut isnt a problem it just affects the thottel cable and return spring because they want to be in the same hole. i guess since it is not factory it will not look factory.
if you could snap a pic and post it that would be cool
thanks

thats a little diffrent than the one i have but with the bends in the linkage it will solve a couple of clearance issuse i was having. definatley something i can fab up. have to get an air cleaner base and work out the clearances.
were on the right track thanks for the picture.
