I need a dimension.... total length of clutch for a clutch fan
« on: September 16, 2014 - 06:49:39 PM »
Can someone measure a know part # /stock clutch fan assembly? Trying to figure out if I have room for a clutch fan set up . I might ditch the electric fans not enough airflow...
I remember and looked back at a few posts where Neil said the clutch for a Jag is 3/4" shorter so if I have the stock dimension I can just subtract 3/4" if I need the extra space.     ( I'm NOT using a stock rad)
Also, What is the stock fan diameter for a 26" fan shroud?
Thanks!

Next question..... what kind of RPM will the jag clutch take before it grenades?
What is the stock diameter of a Mopar clutch fan? 18" ?  :dunno:  http://www.rosevillemoparts.com/product_info.php/p/fan-blade-6-fin/products_id/8364

Yes 18 " , I use the 6 blade Flex-a-lite unit .
I have never had a problem , the clutch unlocks & should not take the fan past 4000 rpm even if the eninge is close to double

Being in South Texas with a 360 stroked to 426, I put in a 22" Griffin rad with electric fan.  It still ran very hot.  Then I ripped that fan and aluminum shroud off and put on a stock 7-blade A/C fan with a thermal Hayden fan clutch.  That set up moves LOTS more air than that electric fan ever thought of doing!  Problem solved.  The hottest it's gotten since is halfway between C and H - that was in 95+* with 90+% humidity sitting at a train crossing.

Exactly what I keep telling people , the stock clutch fan with a shroud is by far the best way to cool .

The only thing to look out for is that the jag clutch and some diff haydens do not have the same mating width to the pulley. What this means is the bolts holding the clutch fan to the pulley/pump will overhang.

Blue locktite or your fav loctite to keep everything together
