I think up grading to a 6 speed means relocating the shifter to the center of a modified transmission tunnel.

A 5 speed up grade is more common. You can go with a Passion 5spd (direct bolt in) or a Tremec 5 spd which requires modifocations but the shifter is still in the stock location.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Consider keeping your A833 and add a Gearvendors Overdrive
You can split every gear... Hoping Santa will bring me one.
If you part with your car put it back the way it was and keep the OD for your next.

I would skip the Tremec option , The Passon 5 spd or the GV are the best way to go
