Inertia fuel pump cutoff switch.
« on: September 08, 2014 - 05:09:06 PM »
Just ordered a FV-7 electric fuel pump cutoff switch. Activates in the event of a collision or rollover. Easy wire in to the ground wire of the fuel pump relay. Push button reset. Cheap insurance. Just a thought for everybody running an electric pump. Stay safe.

I sure wouldn't mind adding one. Not a bad idea. I used to smack the one in my ranger as a theft deterrent if I left it for a few days. Pretty handy.

Also a good theft deterrent, but don't know how Jim would feel about smacking the Challenger when shes all done. :roflsmiley:  But were running carb, so even if the pump didnt run the car would run on what fuel is left in the bowl. I always wire in a hidden coil cutoff switch. Won't start at all then.  :cooldancing: I love wiring.  :2thumbs:

Race cars that I have run, installed an oil pressure-fuel pump shut off switch. I think Holley made it.
It bypasses the contacts with the start circuit, then closes the contacts when pressure builds to activate the FP relay.

If the engine dies, the FP shuts off.

I never did like those hidden Ford FP reset switches.
