Hood trim fitment
« on: August 17, 2014 - 11:15:33 PM »
Have a 73 challenger, just installed an AMD RT hood. My 73 hood trim is about 1/2" short on both ends of the hood and overall fitment is poor. Do I need a trim piece from a different year?

Weird so the hood fits properly but suddenly the trim is 1" short ? the only way I could se that happening is if the hood has more Vee across the front edge

Yea, I'll try to get a picture tonight. I'l also see if it'll bend and give a little bit in the V portion to spread slightly

The 72-74 trim attaches different then 70 and 71.  Philips head screws are used instead of clips and nuts.  Do you have the right trim?

I have the 73 trim that attaches from the bottom with the screws. I was going to drill and attach the same way as my original hood, wasn't aware there was a difference.

Do you have a vendor/part # for the correct hood trim? I'll just go ahead and buy the new one since fitment isn't right either

I have a 70 Challenger.   The hood trim measures 52" long total (26" each leg from the center point of the V).  The existing hood trim (may be original?  not sure) has a blacked-out flange that screws into the underside of the hood.   I just received a "70-71" replacement piece from Roseville that is the same length but doesn't have the flange on the bottom.   The replacement trim has a set of mounting screws that slide in to the backside of the trim and then through the front lip of the hood.   My hood has holes for both mounting approaches.

My trim ended up fitting, it was just a bit bent and was able to shape it back fit
