Rear end year differences?
« on: September 30, 2016 - 01:10:29 PM »
Is there a way to identify a 70 Cuda rear axle specifically?  I bought brake lines from inline tube, and they don't fit the distribution block. They say I have a different year rear end.  Any tips would be nice.

Thanks

Jon

Different body styles have the vent in different locations.  The E-body vent bolt(that holds the brake T to the housing) is on the axle tube like this picture.  Some C-body housings are the same width as an E-body but their vent bolts mount closer to the center and take a different T.

It looks right to me.  The vent is not on the angled part of the tube...it's right after the tube flattens out...just like mine.  I've heard some people complain about Inline Tube.  I get my lines from Fine Lines.

Turn it around.... the rubber hose goes towards the front of the car. Looks to me like with a little bending they will fit?
Get a proper tubing bender, don't used your hands or pliers etc....

Yah, I noticed the brake hose was turned around but it still doesn't look close to working.  Maybe it's just the angle of the picture?

The blocks just sitting there for reference. It's easily two inches to the right.  The passenger side won't reach at all.
