My 340
« on: October 19, 2014 - 03:28:18 PM »
Well I pulled my 340 out and started taking it apart to see, what is in it and what parts may need to be replaced or updated.  it's a dated 71 block, 70 x heads.  I don't have a caliper measure yet but at least a .040 overbore, flat top pistons with valve reliefs, sig erson 1h cam .472 lift 228 duration, hooker long tubes, and a B@M 3000 stall.  with the 6 pack setup.  I am thinking about rebuilding the top end to a voodoo cam, lifters pushrods and some rocker arms.  But I am more curious about a setup like this if I send the carbs off to be tuned correctly should this motivate my challenger well

In all reality I want my challenger to be faster then my wifes G8 GT.  But I have a feeling it's going to take a lot more to get the old girl to take on the newer technology in her car, the g8 will run the 1/4 in the upper 13 range.  I'm not sure my stock bottom end and basic parts are going to match that

good stall converter, 3.91 gears, and some sticky tires, adjustable pinion snubber, you should beat her!

There's books that show you how to rebuild 6 packs.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"
