What do these people think they have? The car needs 30 to 40k worth of parts and body work just to be a decent driver.I an sure a 383 auto is worth over 50k.I always tell these guys to restore it and I will give them fair market value for the car. Most of them have the same line.If I don't sell it I will restore it.If the car was a 4 speed I would not paid more than 8 to 10.

Surprise!!!

http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1970/Plymouth/Cuda/2-Door-Hardtop-383/Values

$58k "high retail" which to me means a #1 car, in that case would cost a lot more than $50k to restore this car to a perfect car condition (it looks to need A LOT of body work).  $38k "average retail" is more in line from what I've seen really nice #2 or high #3 383 auto cars actually sell for, not just the asking price.  Either way you will have $10k purchase + $50-60k to restore it so you are underwater even if you can sell it for "high retail".   :2cents:

You are absolutely correct this car will take more than it's worth to resell to bring back. But hey some folks don't care about the $$$ because I see all sorts of autos that have had 100-200k spent on them to only sell them for 75-80k years later.

Even with NADA and other guides it seems no one is paying these prices and I am starting to see a trend.

It's 52k to 78k as NADA sees it if you look at the total price not the top level price stated.

:iagree:  I'm not in the biz to restore and flip cars, and really do not understand how anyone makes money doing that without seriously cutting corners.
