@anlauto - I left the blue light diffuser lenses in place. The only mod was done to the LED bulbs themselves to get them in the hole. Also since they are 4 sided I tried to clock them in to position so that one chip was facing the gauges. Honestly though I dont think it would make any difference. They put out a lot of light.

@djais1801 - These go above the gauges and act as a flood light to illuminate the panel.

I did the dimmable 4 sided LED's and changed my blue lenses to purple. I even replaced the blue films with purple stage light filter films.

Agreed...I considered that in trying to carry the purple theme with my car but chickened out on altering my light bar. I think if I found a trashed light bar I might experiment though. I think it might be similar to what a black light would look like and I'm not sure I would like that. I can see the glowing flourescent instrument needles being a distraction.

Since the LED's are white it doesn't cause a glow. First picture is using stock bulbs. 2nd is with the LED's. Same purple lenses in both.

I just replaced  the blue ones with purple acrylic and I ordered a sample book of stage light filter sheets and cut pieces of the purple to fit in the other lights above the controls. Definitely needs the bright LED bulbs to really make the color POP. These are the bulbs I used http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevy-White-MEGA-BRIGHT-5-LED-12v-Instrument-Panel-Clock-SMD-Light-Bulb-NOS-/271199155695?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f24bab5ef
Once this eBay link is too old just search eBay for "White MEGA BRIGHT 5 LED 12v Instrument Panel Clock SMD Light Bulb " they are a tight fit but are awesome bright.
