I attended the super car clinic when it came at Laurentian Motors in Sudbury Ontario. I won the door prize which was a John Petrie jacket. In the showroom at the time was a brand new yellow 4 speed HEMI Superbird. At the time we had no way of knowing that this was the only hemi Superbird exported to Canada.  List price was an astonishing $7,200. Big money back then.

My buddy had a 426 Hemi block sitting in his garage for about 15-20 years that he was going to put in his Hemi Challenger. Believe it or not, he never thought to check the VIN on the block, because he knew it wasn't numbers matching to his Challenger. One day when I was over there and we wewre talking about it I jotted the number down....Turned out to be from the only 426 Hemi Superbird sold in Canada.... :scared: The Superbird owner could have cared less :screwy:

Yes that Superbird had the engine changed under warranty. The original engine apparently went out the back door of the dealership. I found out this summer that it had showed up somewhere in southern Ontario and that Stan the owner of the Superbird was not interested in paying to get it back. :dunno:
New that Hemi Superbird took about 2 1/2 years to sell. The dealership even painted it purple with a large black V stripe going down its side in an attempt to sell the car.
Funny thing is the Sudbury dealer never originally ordered the car. After the one they did order [orange 440 auto] sold while still on the transport truck they thought these Superbirds were selling like "hotcakes" and made a dealer trade with a Rexdale dealer to get the Hemi.
