Fun with license plates
« on: December 05, 2013 - 02:22:32 AM »
I've been collecting license plates since I was a kid.  When I discovered ebay years ago, I went nuts getting vanity plates to adorn my garage someday.  Well I finally dug them out and put them on display.  Anyone else have "artfully arranged" plates in their garage?

I didn't collect plates as much as I was given a collection from some old man here in Ottawa. He had some unreal rare pre-world war one cars (auburn, stanley steamer, lagonda, REO royale limosine etc...) and just gave me a box of licence plates, most in pairs. I have every plate for normal cars in ontario from 1919-~1960 and then after that most of them are singles. I just bought a house too so the garage isn't going to be set up untill the spring but I should have enough to cover a wall.

That's pretty cool. It might even be fun to arrange them as best possible to make a broken conversation...?

That's an impressive collection!  And a great story behind it.  Some collectors work for years to get a run of plates like that.

I still have bunches of non vanity plates, just regular ones from MA and a few other states.  I was going to put them all up but I figured I'd just use these for now.   I figured I'd try to hide a message or 2 in them
