1970 cuda trim above the doors
« on: November 09, 2014 - 05:51:00 PM »
I have just gotten into the world of the E-body, and I have a question. On my car there is a slight gap in between the trim that sits above the door and the door. I can see the clips that hold the trim piece at just the right angle. Is there supposed to be any weather stripping or rubber in this area? or just clips with the trim attached?

Thanks

No weather striping, it is only held on by the clips.  More than likely some are broken or have come undone to trim.

Or the trim is bent slightly.  as stated pictures might help.
Plus do a search on here there are several threads, with pictures of how the trim attaches.  :2thumbs:

Yeah, that is a little higher than it should be. Look under it to see how many clips are holding it to the door. If my memory is correct there should be 7 or 8 on the front piece and 4 on the back.  Before you try to pry it off note that one clips is actually a screw and bolt, so be care full not to bend the trim.

All clips are present. Only raised in one section, so I think I will bend to fit better when I get the time. I am new to these cars so I figured better to ask then be missing something on the car.

Thanks

:2thumbs:  May have been bent slightly in the removal or installation of the piece.  Thanks for posting the pic!
