70 a833 freshly rebuilt, is stick in gears, and won't go into second while driving. When parked in second it feels like its engaged ie it won't roll. Do the shifter rod adjustmers have that much to do with something like these issues?

Could linkage be adjustment or the clutch not fully releasing , not enough adjustment there or the clutch is damaged

sounds like rod adjustment - possibly engaging two gears at once

Is the tranny an OD type or cast iron?
