Maybe the last question for me on my brake lights.
« on: November 17, 2014 - 06:32:36 PM »
The wire coming from the brake light switch to the harness that plugs in in the left front kick panel. Can someone tell me what color this wire should be connected to? I looked at some diagrams and I think it said pink but I am not sure.

These are the fun things trying to straighten out some one else mess... A photo would be fantastic also.

Thank you for your help. I had spoke up to friends that I was going to drive the car to work on Friday and now if I don't get this done I will miss my first drive to work.

Pink to the brake light switch , white from the switch to the column there it splits to left & right side so 2 wires to the tailights , I forget the 2 color but these go through the kick panel plug to the tailights

At the plug in the kick panel there is a brown and violet.  So I need to trace that wire to the column as it is hooked up with power I just need to correct the output.

Pick your application.. This site has .pdf files on wiring.. I just used it for myself since I don't have a '70 Challenger Service manual....

Typically:

Brown/Dark Green >>> go to the rear
Tan/Light Green >>> go to the front
This will be your brake and turn signal circuit...

I just need to hook up the white wire as the pink is connected. I need to trace it to the column and make the connection there.

well you should have a pink wire from the fuse block to the brake switch and white wire going from the switch to the column plug  obviously both have been worked on or replaced

Yes as you can tell they are both there in the picture and hooked up. I am wondering what this wire is?

I know this wire must be serving as a ground of some sort as I have blinkers, tail lights with headlights on but no brake lights. If I tap into the brown wire running to the back the brake lights will work on one side.

How does this make any since?

no , power feeds through the brake light switch into the turn signal switch splits into left & right so the brakes light still owrk on one side while the other is blinking for turn ,  left & right & comes back out to the brake light harness , brown is one side of the brake lights dark green is the other side

Well I have tracked down the white wire and plugged it back in all lights work except the brake lights any time. I have 12v in the switch and 12v out of the switch with the pedal pushed down. Think it could be the turn signal switch? Blinkers work fine, headlights and tail lights work fine.
