Hey Randy,
Know that we have that figured out, weigh in on the metal tube (the one that doesn't go to the fuel tank) that on mine was just poked through the cutout and hanging in the rear rail. Was it supposed to be attached to something?

Nope...  There should be two lines, at least there is on Challengers.. One attaches to the body end of the filler neck & a nipple on the fuel tank, the other attaches to a second nipple on the fuel tank, passes through a grommet on the metal plate on the right trunk extension, goes up near the hinge then loops back down through a second grommet ending just inside the frame rail.....  There are very nice reproductions of the lines & plate with the grommets, gasket & screws...

Thanks for the info, just seemed weird that it just ended at the frame rail.
Ok now for the more pressing issue: measurement.
While I wait for my tall jack stands to arrive, I am planning on how to level the car up.
I thought about just shimming it on the hoist but scratched that idea, hence the stands.
I plan on shimming level right to left off of the frame rails on either side, but what do you level off front to rear? Rockers?
Are there drop measurement specs off of certain points where you could level to a height spec.
Sorry for being ignorant on the best way to do this but my take is that unless you are level you won't get accurate dimensions.
Least thats the way it works on my mill :feedback:

Mills are slightly more accurate....  :grinno: I use a 6' carpenters level, the factory frame chart and pieces of coat hanger wire bent at the proper length to hook and support the level from datum points on the factory frame chart...   I only have a Challenger frame chart but I expect the elevation numbers should be perfect, the diagonals will be off but they should differ in a predictable manner...

Yeh I don't think my precision Starett level (division = .005 per 12") would help a lot.  :roflsmiley:
I know I have a Frame spec for a Cuda somewhere in my saved files so that won't be a problem.
That makes a lot of sense, I never thought of hanging the level, I was just going to shim the level on the floor, and measure down to it.
I think I like your idea better. :thinkerg:

Got my rotisserie put together today, just have to weld some adapter plates to the attachment arms in the morning and I may try it out.
I also have to figure out how I am going to cool down my (unfinished) garage. 97 today in Vacaville 105 in the garage.
Sure makes me wish I could fit the Cuda in the air conditioned shop, but no way to get it back there and wouldn't want to do a lot of weld grinding around the machinary.  :nono:
Anyway I will keep everyone posted and if I try out the rotisserie tomorrow I will post pics.

OK,
Question for the metal workers out there.
If you have followed this thread you know I cut my roof off because of the rot around the windows.
So I have this large piece of mostly clean original sheet metal just sitting by the side of the garage.
Any reason not to use this to cut the patch panels I will need for a few of the smaller repairs I am making.
I figure I can use the cutout rusted piece as a template, and if I get lucky may even find a close contour match.

All the major pieces are on their way from AMD, but I thought this may be a great idea :thinkerg:

Any downside, suggestions? :feedback:

      No reason not to use the old roof skin. I save stuff like that all the time and use it. There is a little Ford Falcon in our Challenger build.   :roflsmiley:

Look what Roadrunner Transportation (Love the name!) delivered yesterday.
Now it's time for some fun!
To hot to do anything yet and I need to replace the torsion bar cross member before anything else.
I will keep everyone posted with pics as I progress with the metal replacement.

Morning ladies & Gents,
So as those of you following this thread know, I decided to replace my torsion bar cross member.
The plan was to try and remove it, without removing the floor! :screwy:

Well it ain't easy, but it can be done. I cut windows in the floor over the rockers and front frame rail, took my impact hammer to the welds,(couldn't get to them with a drill) and bent the tabs back to clear the cross member at the rockers and frame.
Drilled out the spot welds holding the floor and popped that puppy right out.
Now all I have to do is finagle the new one back in there, check my specs and weld er up.
Even though its not "correct" I will probably weld up the entire tabs (seams) where it meets the rails.
On second thought the spot welds popping is probably what kept the frame from tweaking. :dunno:
