1970 Challenger rear tail panel to bumper filler question?
« on: December 19, 2014 - 01:44:07 PM »
I just bought a reproduction tail panel to bumper filler piece for my 70 Challenger. This is the skinny but long strip of metal that fills the rear bumper gap. I need to buy the fasteners to mount this filler piece but I cannot find any kits or even images of the required fasteners. If anyone can help me on this it would be greatly appreciated! I also assume that this part was already on the car when they were painted at the factory. Am I correct?

if you have a sample screw just take that to a hardware store. I would think they are no more than a # 8 or #10 Philips screw no longer than a .25 or .50 , the ones I have removed were also caulked to the body before painting.

Thanks Dave, unfortunately I never saw my car with it on. So the strip is just attached with sheet metal screws?

Mine had pan head screws, #8 or #10 like mopardave mentioned, and there was body caulking to smooth the transition and to seal the screws.
