Well, thanks to all of you for your feedback, help and comments.  It's quite obvious to me now that this is (as Challenger6pak and others have stated) not an original Shaker, but merely a conversion using a post 70-71 flat hood.  I'm glad the seller didn't claim this to be an original.  It was actually my engine builder who suspected it might be.  I've been considering swapping out this hood for a Rallye "Power Bulge" hood.  I like the look of both with the hood closed; like the coolness, functionality and shaking of the shaker; don't like opening a shaker hood to see a giant bonnet hiding a beautiful engine; it's not so bad when it's a Hemi or other big block, but a small block like mine just gets completely hidden.  I'm thinking of fabricating a hinge and bracket assembly that will allow me to lift up the entire assembly off the carb just like the way the hood lifts and opens.  It would lift up and tilt back to expose the engine.  The angle of the opened shaker assembly would be that of the opened hood.  Comments appreciated.  Thanks

I believe this non-R/T '71 has the over the counter version.
