which Headers are the right one ?
« on: December 23, 2014 - 12:04:13 PM »
Hi

I search for Headers for my 1974 Plymouth Barracuda with 360 cui engine .
Which would fit best in a e-Body and which header manufacturers are recommended ?

I have heard that ceramic will be good and Hooker Headers are not the greatest what could buy

How i could find out which Header in length and fit are the right one ?

Can someone give me a recommendation ?

Thx and x-mas greeting from Austria (Europe)

I put TTI headers on my car and they fit perfect.  Expensive but worth it.

:iagree:  TTI's have the best fit and are high quality!  I would recommend the polished ceramic 1 3/4" with thermal barrier if it is in your budget.

I'm pretty happy with my Hooker Super Competition headers on my 360, but my experience in working with big blocks and TTIs is that they are some of the best fitting units out there. I've also heard good things about Dougs, but no personal experience.

Recommendations on ones to avoid: Summit, Headman, Thorley, Jegs, Hooker Competition, Blackjack, basically any of the sets that wrap around the steering linkage.

I'd match Hooker Super Comps against any header!
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Thx for answer and information .

Hooker are one i don`t want . Everybody i have talk in Austria and Germany say that they not good fit and it`s not easy to but it
in the car and that they are not be close .

At the Homepage of TTI i have seen that the TTI`s are $ 731,- US Dollar cost , that are € 600,55 Euro
but customs and shipping amount make that they are in Austrian and Germany part shop not under €1000,- Euro to get :-(

Which ones are good in a mid price segment ? Did they also good fit and work well ?

There are only 3 that fit properly
 TTI
 Dougs
both are available ceramic coated & fit great but if you want quality you have to pay .
the last option is Hooker 5115 , these stay above the steering & fit well but are definatly made of lighter materials & do not have the same quality as the others .
Any other option will go below the steering center link & will get smashed on the ground very quickly & are basically garbage

I haven't updated my image shack pics in a long time. I'll see if I can find some new ones.

Is there someone or company in your country that could make them for you?  With the taxes and shipping, you may be better off.  Chryco hit it tho, dougs , tti, and super comps are good, headman hustler is good to. I prefer to have mine built anymore. My car is in the chassis shop now getting a new set built  2 3/8th x 4.5  ...Good luck with your build

I got the ceramic coated Patriot headers for my Challenger 318. Fits perfect! Paid something like €400for them. More than happy with the quality for that price.
