dead fuse in fuse block
« on: December 26, 2014 - 07:15:18 PM »
Hey all, im in the process of bench testing the dash out of my 70 cuda. so i have the engine wiring harness laid out and hooked up to a battery and a jump wire from the negative post up to the frame of the dash. and when i was pokin around and making sure stuff was working i found that my instrument lights werent working so i checked the fuse and the fuse had no power to it. the power wire for that fuse holder is a single tan wire and then the output is 2 orange wires. so long story short does that particular fuse get its power from another source and not the main engine wiring harness. if you guys have any input it would be greatly appreciated because im stumped

I guess it doesn't have a number on it because it is on the fuse block and not the bulkhead connector. Jhaag it probably does come from the switch and the switch does have power and is functioning properly. but it just won't turn on those lights so thats where I'm stumped i guess. i know the wire from the fuse block to the lights is ok because i can put power to the fuse and the lights will light up, so I'm just kind of looking for a new direction to go and things to check i guess

If the switch was working properly, the lights would of come on!! I had the same issue and it was my switch . . . .

Yup, that fuse is powered through the headlight switch when the parking lights or headlights are on... & if it doesn't power up check the dash light dimmer, either it's turned down or it's bad...
