6.1 radiator vs la radiator

I'm due for a new rad. I'm planning on converting to a gen III someday and I know they require a different rad. What are the differences. If it's just the inlet needing to be on the passenger side then I was thinking I could weld an extra neck on for down the road

the new Durango's run a cross over hose im going to use that and run a stock style small block radiator inlet on the drivers side and outlet on the passenger side. for clarification wife Durango is 2014 with a 5.7 hemi.
