Looking for a 72-74 cuda project

Hi everybody, i'm new to mopars and looking for a Cuda project to try and get running for around the $15k max range, the less the better. I'm slightly looking to rat rodish with the build (realize i might not make friends with that) so not concerned with originality or matching numbers nor paint or interior... I'm mostly interested in the condition of the metal as i don't really want to be doing extensive body work, (i can do some i have to.)
I have intention of making it a 4 speed if it isn't one already and i figure ill swap in whatever engine i can find... but i'm looking for a small block and would like to upgrade that slowly.
I feel its doable as i just saw a car better than my description for sale here for 12k.... (cross country and someone got it first)
I'm located in California and only have a small Toyota truck to possibly tow (wouldn't want to tow very far)
Any suggestions/is this a viable dream? I'm new on this forum as i am to american cars so any info is welcome.

I posted a great deal over on the craigslist/ebay section. I think it was a 74 for 12K running.
Welcome!

Yup i've been scanning the cars for sale section, thats what has originally brought me here. I didn't know there was a craiglist/ebay section... I'm clearly blind and Ill start poking through there, thanks for the tip. I just checked it out. Its perfect if i could get my butt to MN. If you spot one in the south west please holler.
I've bought several craiglist cars, never an ebay one. Bidding on something i haven't seen in person makes me nervous.

I agree. Ebay freaks me out to buy without looking.
Usually the sellers will let you drive out and take a look.
Craigslist has lots of finds. But most I have purchased came from this board and a few others,.
Keep checkin in!

Even though you are the highest bidder, eBay still allows the potential buyer to deny the transaction if it was misrepresented in any way (so basically if they change their mind).

I make the run between SF and LA pretty often. So I'm looking in that region. Id be willing to drive pretty far for the right car. It seems the Craigslist value of Cudas in this area is pretty staggering as I'm seeing rotted put hulks listed at 6k.

That 8K one sounds pretty nice.
Supposed to be rust free.

So right now the one car that is within reach that best fits my description is this
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/4855123587.html.
Seems like he is asking alot though if its as ratty as it looks.
Thoughts? What would be a fair price? Does this belong in the craigslist deals section? (doesnt much seem like a deal)
