318 exhaust manifolds
« on: January 07, 2015 - 11:10:50 PM »
I have stock exhaust manifolds that came on the 318 engine in my 1974 challenger. I replaced the 318 with a 360. Will the 318 exhaust manifolds work on the 360?

Thanks

The 318 manifolds have smaller ports better off getting some 340 or 360 manifolds or a pair of headers (even better) I know because I am looking for some for the same reason. Year one has new reproduction manifolds for reasonable price, used ones are expensive and could have cracks.

Exactly , yes & no , they will fit but do have smaller ports that could be opened up with a die grinder

Sorry to hijack this thread with a related question, what is the difference between a 318/340 exhaust manifold and a high performance exhaust manifold?  And can you tell from just looking at them?

The best ones seem to be casting #'s 2863549 (RH) and 2863553 (LH) these are the ones being sold (new) at Yearone for $599 the same ones are on Ebay for the same price (used) so I think I will go for the new ones, old ones could be warped or have hidden cracks about to open up they look like the ones on the T/A and AAR ? don't know if they were on plain 340 4bbl E Bodies in 1970.

There is a pair of manifolds on Ebay that may be good for you at a reasonable price enter 251759882420 into the search.
