Brawling with a WRX today
« on: December 27, 2014 - 09:01:18 PM »
Those WRX's are lightning quick.
I read before they do 12 secs in the 1/4.

Guy pulled up today in one near me and started laning up to me as we were going about 20mph after the green.

I hammered it and started to pull on him. It was really neck and neck for a bit but then I ran out of lane since there was a car coming up in front of me.

Damn! a little more road and I would show him tail lights. Maybe.

Anyone race these little monsters?

They are quick and lite. Never messed with one of them but took on a Nissan NSX one time. Now a days with all these mods that go on you never know what's inside.  :burnout:

He definitely did some work on it.

The Hemi comes on quick with the solid cam and he was getting me a sweat.

There's a few around here, including one right up the block. Very quick, beware... Of course these are all being driven by 20 somethings, just wanting to show up the ol' guys.  :grinyes:  :smilielol:

They are certainly quick.  What car do you have that kept pace with it?

They certainly move well. Currently they're good for low 13s out of the box..launching them is the hard part, if you went from a roll, I would bet your hands were full.

I almost bought an STi instead of my Golf, I decided to use the money saved to put effort toward my Barracuda though. Fun cars.

I used to own a Nissan Skyline GT/R with the RB26DETT motor never had to try very hard to leave WRX's behind the Toyota Supra RZ with the 2JZGTE is about the only thing to put up a challenge.

It would have been a plain Skyline not the GT/R there is a huge difference these cars are good for 12 second passes with just the restrictors removed and some basic mods and with very little money spent 10 seconds with stock engine internals are common. The 4wd system cuts in and out to eliminate understeer and save the car when it all goes wrong(it saved my ass a few times). They had to ban these cars from racing over here because they totally humiliated the other cars especially the local V8's  I do miss it but now days I have my 1970 Challenger and Barracuda (project) to keep me busy, all I am saying is these cars are a lot better then crappy WRX's. In Japan they are considered a collectable classic muscle car that has a heritage that goes back to the early 70's while WRX's are sold for next to nothing or just recycled because nobody give a **** about them they are just disposable crap just like most of the other used cars over there, when I was over there I seen some early 70's GT/R's for sale for around $120,000 US so that puts them in V code league.

I'm not delusional, I know there's always a faster car around the corner haha, this particular duster ran 9.80s all day long, but no matter how fast a car is, there's always somebody faster, but I sure enjoyed watchin my buddy spanking imports all night in a 1/8 in bakersfield

The current record for an R32 GT/R is 7.52 for 1/4 mile in New Zealand they don't do 1/8 mile this car would do better then others over a shorter distance anyway nothing launches better then the ATTESA 4wd fitted to these things. Don't get me wrong I love my Mopars and am building a nice 440 with Mopar Performance alloy heads and a roller cam for the Barracuda but I wouldn't mess with these cars especially in wet conditions.

NSX is Honda they have a NA V6 good for low 13's not very much you can do with them, handle like an F1 car however.
