another headliner question
« on: January 28, 2015 - 10:40:16 PM »
Anyone know if I need these sail panel retainers for a 70 challenger? If so a picture on how they are mounted in the car. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Toxic, hard to believe that someone on here doesn't know the answer. From my research it looks to me like I don't need them, but they are listed on ebay for 70-74 ebodies. Just don't know what year or model they are for?  :banghead:

Those teeth hold the headliner tight, you need them.

All years used the metal piece with the teeth.  The later years didn't use any cardboard sail panels behind the headliner in the back.  My guess is that the new headliner material didn't require the extra support behind it.

:iagree:  My 70 has the cardboard/fiberboard pieces but some of the new replacement ones don't have them.   :dunno:

Thanks guys, especially Burdar for the picture. Picture is worth a 1000 words. I knew something had to be there to hold the material but without that photo I was clueless. Thanks again.
