I disagree. If they wanted originality they wouldn't have put a warmed up 440 in it, and they would have never contacted Chip Foose!
Thank you! I went back to watch the show again thinking I had missed something after all the comments.
First, this car belonged to the wife and was inherited from her Grandmother. It only had to make her happy, not the husband. Anyone that has been married, or is getting married needs to learn this!
The car has tremendous sentimental value to her and not collector value so I suspect that whether it was a GC, or not, is totally irrelevant to her but that is my supposition.
The Husband was the insider and at the beginning of the show, he made the comment that she had said that Chip Foose was the only person she would let work on her car. I take this to mean that she was familiar with the show and liked the cars he did. Someone had to sign a release saying he had artistic license.
Chip took down his comments and drew a rendition of his ideas. The Husband did say he liked black and it started off in the drawing that way. Any one that watches the show should not be too surprised at a left turn along the way. If I recall correctly, the door handles were removed in the drawing and no complaints were made.
I don't understand why there are no complaints about the suspension being changed to a four link....surely this destroyed the collector value of the car that has been mentioned? As RC said, the engine had already been swapped so we can forget numbers matching.
My guess is that the car is worth a lot more now than it would have been left stock-if for no other reason than its a Foose car.
In the end, the only thing that counts is if the woman liked it...Looking at her face, I would say the car was beautiful in her eyes and the husband looked happy when he saw how happy she was...again, he's a dumb ass if he is not.
I personally liked the color a lot, but, the wheels were too donkish for me. My biggest complaint was that they did not install an XFI or similar to really make it a pleasure to drive
I might have a different opinion if this was a 1 of 50 car, but, then, it would not have been on the show
