How to mask headlight surrounds 70' Chally
« on: December 13, 2014 - 12:18:59 AM »
I surprised myself and repaired the dents dings etc. on my headlight surrounds. Now it's time to re-paint them semi-gloss black. How does one mask the edge around the headlight openings? Also what is the best brand rattle can paint for this?

Thanks, John

Silver or R/T black?  for the black Sims Trim Black is the way to go.  for the silver I'm not sure, but Eastwoods or Totally Auto Inc probably has the right color.

As for masking it's just a simple task with good tape.  only takes a few minutes.

Auto Body supply shops sell different width green masking tape. From pinstripe to 1.5" wide.

SEM trim black 39143 I put three coats on.

I used green making tape but I think you could also use foam dart tape. I asked for some at the body shop they have me 5ft for free to do the grille like the factory. Check out what I mean from this article.
