narrower rear end to move tires in
« on: June 07, 2005 - 09:41:48 PM »
I am upgrading to p295-50 tires on 10 inch rims with 4.5 inch backspace.

Although they will work by using air shocks to keep the fenders above the tire, I want to go to a narrower rear end to move the tires in at least 2 inches per side.

I know about the 1 inch offset shackles and front mount relocation kits used with a 69 b body rear to move the springs in 1 inch per side.

but I want to move the springs 2 or 3 inches per side.

does anyone have info on doing this?
are there any "kits" available or do I have to enigneer my own.

I want to get the 295's centered in the wheel wells.

I am thinking maybe move the springs in far enough to match the A body spring spacing and use a A body 8-3/4 rear end so I wont have to narrow a rear and axles.

any ideas or suggestions?

Mopar has a kit that notches into the frame rail for the front mount , this will move the springs in approx 3-4 "& by angling the springs you may be able to amtch the spring width for the A body to mimiimise the work there
I have narrowed a lot of diffs & moved spring inward

I will check out the mopar perf 3" kit. thanks

Is there any reason not to use the a body rear instead of narrowing a e body rear?

I think moving the rear of the spings would be easy compared to moving the front, so I dont think I would leave the spings angled.

the A body housing will work fine But you will need to get axles made as there was never a A body 8 3/4 diff with 4.5" bolt circle

wheres a good place to get axles made?
Or do I just have some ebody axles shortened?
