Converting hood release mechanism

Hi,

There's something that is bothering me for a while. Got a hood held down by hood pins on my 70 Challenger and ofcourse with a safety latch. The lock is also there but the striker is missing. So far so good.

My problem is, that anybody could open the hood right now, so it's quite a strange feeling leaving the car somewhere without having an eye on it. I was wondering if anybody has an idea or an already implemented solution. For example like in "modern" cars a lock with cable to release the hood from the driver legroom. Mounting a striker is not the real problem, but ofc another lock would be needed as well, as it has a release latch right now accessible from outside.

Maybe someone has an idea, I still got plenty of time as the Challenger is still in hibernation the next few months

Some sort of locking devise on the hood pins instead of the stock clips...

Inside hood release was a factory option, just add that

I had flush mount locking hood pins on mine. They looked good and did a fine job of keeping people out of my engine bay. Plus they only cost about $25. Since your hood is already drilled should be simple to replace them

Ah that's cool, didn't know it was an option. Ofcourse I could have had a look into Jim Schild's book, but honestly I never read the section of '71 and up.  Looking into the '70 workshop manual didn't show another latch, so I thought there's none.
Part number of the inside release latch should be 3670108 and compatible with '70 models I suppose? Anybody got the part no for the cable as well? Or at least the length? That would be very kind.

Ok the locking hood pins would be an option, too... but honestly the key seems like the one used for old floppy disc boxes and not that reliable.

I'll keep an eye on the latch and cable on the internet, guess I will find them sooner or later.
