1970 Challenger Dash Lights
« on: February 14, 2015 - 02:34:25 PM »
Looking for some troubleshooting advice.  My dash lights have always worked.  I rarely drive a night but a few months ago I noticed my dash lights stopped working.   All of them. All the gauges still work to include the clock intermittently. I thought it might be the dimmer switch since the dome light would work intermittently.  It stopped working also.

No blown fuse.  All dash wiring is solid.

Thoughts?

do your park lights work? they are together at the main light switch. If park lites work it is probably the dimmer switch . prob have to pull switch out of dash and check terminals with a test light

the "spring" resistor in the dimmer may be corroded.  You can carefully take it apart and clean the corrosion off, then apply dielec. grease and reassemble it.   may work then.

Thanks for the input.  I'll do some troubleshooting this weekend and share how the story ends.

Most likely it's your dimmer switch.  Remove it and send it in to JS Restorations.  Jim will restore it and have it working like new.
