What is the correct way to remove the clock knob on a rally dash

How do you set the clock anyway? Nothing happens when I turn it and when I pulled it it came off lol!

You need to get a screw that goes into the center of the knob and tighten it.  You push on the knob and twist to set the time.

If your knob is outside and to the left of the clock, then there's a small cable that goes to the backside of the clock.

I just checked my rallye dash, you actually have t PUSH the knob in and then turn either way.

If your clock runs but isn't keeping time, running slow, make sure that after you set it that the knob/cable is fully disengaged because the spring that pushes the knob back out may not fully disengage the gear inside the clock.
I found that was making my clock run slow. I just pulled it back and twisted it left and right to be sure it was all the way back out of the setting position. It has kept time ever since. It is an OER repro. My original is in a box. It did not work at all...
It does not stop it but can have just enough contact to cause slight friction and slow it down. If it runs fast, I don't have any suggestions.

My car is in storage - if I remember, if I push it in and turn it nothing happens. The clock runs ok, What does this mean? Cable broken? I will have to have a look at it. It is a Ralley 1971 dash.

The cable is screwed onto the back of the clock. It could be unscrewed or broken... There should be a brass threaded fitting with small shaft sticking out the back of the clock if the cable is not attached. You can push and turn the shaft to set the clock. Not easy but can be done.
