Wheel Opening Trim/Moldings
« on: February 26, 2015 - 04:45:16 PM »
When putting on the wheel opening molding/trim is it best to have the wheel and tire off the car or does it matter?

Thanks.

It shouldn't matter unless you need the space for a drill or screwdriver.

:iagree:  And start from the middle and work you way out.  If they are after market trim, be prepared to do some fitment.

They should be test fitted BEFORE the car is painted.  Aftermarket mouldings do not fit aftermarket fenders/quarters very well.  You have to MAKE them fit.  I've heard of people modifying the fenders/quarters so the trim fits.  You can't do that if the body is already painted.

I taped off around my fender and fitted and installed the screws.
Then took off the scvrews and trims, removed the tape and installed the screws back in the holes.
No paint was harmed!

Mr. Fern,  Did you do it with the wheels on or off?

Thanks.
