Rim blow wheel squeak
« on: March 03, 2015 - 12:30:15 PM »
Hello,

I have been experiencing a steering wheel squeak with my newly installed rim blow wheel. Any tips or suggestions on a possible fix?

The shop working on it says they lubed the contact points up, but the squeak still persists. Perhaps there is a certain type of grease needing to be used

Thanks,
Anthony

still sounds like they missed a spot  or there is a burr on one of the contacts - some super fine sand paper might do the trick then re grease them

I cannot see how the rim blow could squeak , it only bolts to the crush can , it has to between the shaft & housing where there is a brg  or between the crush can & housing

I was talking about the horn contact or brush in the column ...not the rim blow itself.
there should be a carbon brush and a contact ring at the base of the steering wheel/ top of the column unless things have changed and they honk the horn using infrared or wireless :dunno:

if it is a factory TS switch the horn contact is a roller wheel
