converting to 134 ???

What do I need to change/do to convert to 134A?   The system is apart for an engine rebuild so now is the time to do it.

What do I need to get?

I believe he is referring to conversion of the older R12 refrigerant system to the newer R134 A refrigerant that is the standard for now. :cheers:

I believe there are conversion kits  that give you all new seals, o rings and 134 oil that will all need to be changed out.  may have to also convert all the Schrader valves as well

New drier and expansion valve ( most of which today are 134a compatible. ) Flush system, get all oil out of compressor then use PAG or ester oil. Change all O rings replace with green HNBR Orings.

The conversion, as already noted, is much more than changing out the coolant and a few valves.  Stay away from the "over the counter" kits.  I would have it professionally done as many major components will need to be replaced with new ones, the system needs to be airtight, everything working and pressurized correctly, etc.  Your compressor might need rebuilding or replacing, who knows at this point

Most shade tree conversions never turnout working correctly

Check with Classic Auto Air they do upgrades or will use OEM parts what ever you want, in my opinion they are the best.
