I have a 1971 Challenger with a stock 8 3/4 out back. I am considering running 18" rims and doing a pro touring look on the car, but am unsure what backspacing or tire size that will fit on my car. Anyone run across this that could give me an idea? Thank you.

Im about to do the same on my Cuda, you might get away with 5.5" on the rear and 5 on the front, with an 18" up front they normally will clear tie rod ends and upper ball joints so its not as critical on BS up front. 18x10 out back with a 275 should be ok, 18x9 up front with say a 255.

I have 275 on it now but only a 15" rim. The tire is very close. If I run 18's I wonder if I have to roll the lip.

Basically you will kind of end up with the same rolling diameter maybe 1" more overall so probably not. Pending the tire you buy, ideally you should try and match rolling diameter

Check out the "E Body Tire Combo" sticky post/thread above. You can fit a 295 out rear relocating the rear leaf springs, but you need to nail the backspacing. If you relocate the rear leaf springs (1.5" required I think?), then you can fit a 315 before needing to tub. Up front, you can go as wide as a 275 or 285, but again you would need to nail the backspacing. If you wanted to go 295 square, you can do that as well, but it may be a lot of trouble, and would depend on your suspension setup.

I'm using 295/40/18 rear tires with 11 wide rims with 5.5" backspacing with a B-Body width rear end. Fits just fine!  :2thumbs:
