new guy from chicago...
« on: March 02, 2015 - 09:33:24 PM »
Thought I would join, getting deeper into ebodies, and am restoring my first one.

67 gtx hemi 4spd silver bullet twin (9 k miles). This is my crown jewel.
mr norms survivor challenger hemi orange, 440 4spd.  original owner made his car payments street racing it. Unfortunately he just died this year. Now the son wants to buy it.
70 cuda convertible 340 4spd B5 blue, (restoring now).  I want to get another some day, I like it so much.
71 cuda curious yellow, white interior, white billboard 340 4spd (my freaky color ebody, real color combos).  I searched hard to find a real car in this color. It came with those odd duster hubcaps that look like flying saucers. Love it.

Had a survivor 55c300, that got me going on mopars, and wish I still had that. black and cool, no mirrors (from factory).
Had a black 71 survivor cuda on cudaworld, bet many of you saw that car (its still there on that dead website).  I wish I did not sell it, but it needed a lot of work and would blow my budget.

I'll focus on the ebodies for now. here is my wifes favorite car (this is a picture of how it lived for years in a garage in Chicago, this picture pops up out there a lot, proud of it).  freaking fast car. Mr norm knows this car, and helped the original owner set it up for repeated street racing (better than a touchy 6 pack).  the bigger debate was the 4 speed (mr norm pushed and pushed him to go automatic). he said no (glad he did).

wrong color on the curious cuda, original owner changed it, as he could not get the body shop in town to find that color (colorodo springs), so he went with this, as the yellow looked green to him at night (its 99 dodge neon green). all the white stuff was toast (he gave me the original interior, and he stuck in some black interior out of a 72).  Going to restore in the fall.
has the original exhaust still on it. car is quick, I blew away a 57 chevy with a blower the first time I took it out for a ride.  Did not expect that! Must have a good axle ratio (never checked).

my ebody convertible looks like this (its at a body shop now, and I can work on it there, completely blown apart). Need all kinds of help on that.  Will paint myself.

Welcome!

Love the fat meats on the Challenger!  Nice story behind it!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

WELCOME and MOPOWER to ya!  If you're not a member already, you may want to get invloved with the CHICAGOLAND MOPAR CONNECTION club...   www.chicagolandmoparconnection.com   They are having a swap meet at Elmhurst Chrysler on Sunday, March 22, 2015... come early if possible!   Also, many car shows thru the summer season.  Good people to meet and expand friendships!
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

See  MOPAR ACTION MAGAZINE, AUGUST 2006 ISSUE for featured article and details on my autocross T/A.

yep, I used to belong.  I should join again.  My buddy with an orange hemi cuda belongs to it.  Probably going to the swap meet this time as my cuda convert is over at artiesrestorations in elgin IL (trying to find more original parts for adding a shaker).  I do wish some mopar guys in the area could stop by this shop this Saturday when they have a car club meeting at the shop (mostly (ok all) chevy guys). They are going to check out my convert as the point of conversation (doing some custom fab rust repairs without taking the quarters off).  My car (and mopars) are new to them. I am getting my buddy with the hemi to go over if the weather is good.

Its here, maybe get some local mopar ebody guys to come over to the shop...they are very reasonable on the restoration ($50/hr).  They let me strip the car at their shop, and do a lot of my own work.  So far I am only into a day and a 1/2 of shop labor before media blasting. And the media blasting was done there and it went great (walnut shells and glass beads, all the tar came off inside the fenders and wheel wells).  Trying to keep costs really under control.  They do have one of the best painters in our area (and he has done a lot of mopars). My other neighbor has a hemi orange 70 charger 440 6pack 4spd with factory callouts on the hood, and a factory spoiler. The same painter doing my car, did his, and its held up nice for over 10-20 yrs.
