Clutch style sure grip ring gear bolts ?
« on: April 02, 2015 - 06:43:21 PM »
i have a Richmond 3.73 setup for my 489 housing. last year i sheared off all 12 ring gear bolts on a 1-2 shift. that's another story.
the ring and pinion are ok, so i pull my clutch sure grip from the 3.73's and put it in a set of 4.10's i have. i found another clutch
sure grip to put the 3.73's back together. rebuilt the unit with new clutches and bearings. went to bolt the ring gear on with new
ARP bolts and the shoulder on the bolts get's hung up on the hole in the sure grip. the shoulder of the bolt is too big for the hole.
has anyone else come across this? what did you do to solve the problem? thanks, Greg
